Can Black and White Rescue a Photo?

Earlier in the summer, we went for a walk along Rhossili when I spotted a clump of flowers so whilst everyone else carried on walking, I took a couple of photos. The weather wasn’t great and the lighting flat so the resultant colour image wasn’t great. In an attempt to get a usable photo I tried converting it to black and white.

I think I prefer the black and white conversion. Any comments on which you ……

Worms Head on Gower

I’ve just had the preliminary flick through this month’s copy of Outdoor Photography and saw that they’ve featured my website in theie On the Web section, and a very good write up it is so thank you Outdoor Photography :-) This made me think that I ought to update my blog as I haven’t posted for a few days. I took myself, two cameras, food and my tent up onto Rhossili Down. I took my tent to keep me warm as the forecast was for 5 degrees C – it’s a great tent – two poles and for pegs and ……

More Black and White

I’m still trying to think in black and white and wanted a second portrait photo to complement the Three Cliffs Bay, and wanted one of Worms Head. I looked through my old photos to see what I had and found one with some nice texture in the sand which meant it could be promising for black and white. After several adjustment layers in Photoshop, here’s what I came up with. I must say that printed ……
