Llyn y Fan Fawr in the Snow

Llyn y Fan Fawr and Fan Brycheiniog

With fresh snow fallen, we decided it was definitely time to visit Llyn y Fan Fawr. It is one of our favourite areas of the Brecon Beacons and far away from the hoards of people who head up to Pen y Fan – don’t get me wrong, I don’t blame them. After all, two days ago we went up to Pen y Fan and thoroughly enjoyed it. Mountains to me are about solitude and peace, ……

Today, I woke with frost on my hat!

On our way up to the ridge by Corn Du

Every so often, life brings on experiences that put you back in touch with the world and help shape your future. It all started when we realised we had a free evening and I said “hey, we should camp in the snow”.

Corn Du and Pen y Fan

Two days later, we were enduring one of the hardest walks we’ve done. I had 25Kg on my back – that’s 4 stone in old money! I ……

Epic Iceland

The Aurora Borealis and a frozen lake at Snæfellsnes

I was lucky enough to go to Iceland in February this year. The hope was to see the Aurora but even if we didn’t, we would have a great time in the scenery there. It was with disbelief that we saw the aurora on the first night in Reykjavik! We went on to see it a further four times out of nine nights in total! The best time was on the return trip from a ……

Pobbles Beach in the Snow

Pobbles Beach

This is a follow on to a previous blog post about my trip in the snow to Pobbles Beach and Three Cliffs Bay. I have spent some time processing another photo from that trip which I took whilst standing on the viewpoint overlooking the three cliffs. As mentioned previously, the view to Oxwich Bay was hazy and not particularly great. However, looking the other way across Pobbles Beach, the view was a lot better and ……

Upper Neuadd Reservoir

Corn Du and Pen y Fan from Upper Neuadd Reservoir

In mid-January, I decided to visit Upper Neuadd Reservoir for the first time in years. It was also my first proper photography outing of 2013 as redecorating my daughter’s room had taken precedence. When I arrived, I couldn’t believe my luck as the conditions were amazing! I made my way to the water’s edge and got my camera out. I tried to get in a position where the peaks were reflected in the water whilst ……

Gower Snow 2013

Overlooking Pobbles Beach

It has been a while since I posted a blog entry and the main reason is that I’ve been working on a site redesign, making it simpler and quicker. That is the site you’re viewing now! I did manage to get out in the snow and spent some time on the cliffs at Pennard and on Three Cliffs Bay.

I arrived at Southgate car park at 6am and promptly got stuck in the snow by driving ……

A quick trip to the Brecons

This time of year is always my busiest, with exhibitions and craft fairs, etc. so I don’t often get to go out as much as I’d like. But with snow in the air, I took a morning to go out to the Brecons – mainly to try out my winter tyres in the snow! I will talk more about the winter tyres later in the season, but I was very impressed at the grip and ……
