A Visit to Sgydau Sychryd

Sgydau Sychryd

It’s been quite a while since my last blog post so here is a short post to get things going again. We had a short walk today at Dinas Rock – naturally, I took my camera with me. When we arrived at Sgydau Sychryd, this view looking down onto the river, waterfall and bridge caught my eye so I spent some time composing this photo. I like the way the bridge is in the to ……

Sgwd Eira, Afon Hepste

Yesterday, I visited Sgwd Eira with Neil Mansfield to do a recce for autumnal shots. I’ve only been to Sgwd Eira twice and hadn’t taken any photos of it – surely I must be one of the last photographers who hasn’t? Straight away, I saw that the best angle would involve getting wet so I got into the river up to my knees! Here is my interpretation of the waterfall and river.

Nant y Llyn

This morning I headed out to Nant y Llyn, one of the many tributaries of the Afon Tawe, to see if I could get a waterfall shot with heather. I really struggled to find a shot and don’t think I really achieved what I wanted and I don’t think they really do justice to the landscape. Anyway, here are two of the photos:

Upper Clydach River in Pontardawe

Cwm Du Glen where the Upper Clydach River has carved a gorge is just minutes from our house. We’ve lived there for 4.5 years and I’ve only just gotten around to photographing these falls and bridge! Sgwd Gwladys

I was originally planning to go to the Pentwyn Reservoir this morning to get an autumn shot with Pen y Fan in the background, but the forecast wasn’t great so instead I went for a walk to Sgwd Gwladys with Paula and Piran. On the way I met someone who was on holiday – after having a chat for a while he realised that he knew my name and had seen some of my work ……

Frozen Afon Pyrddin and Sgwd Gwladys

On Saturday, the three (four including the baby which hasn’t been born yet!) drove to Pontneddfechan to walk along the river to see Sgwd Gwladys. The path was treacherous in places but we made it to the confluence and from there on in, the scenery was amazing!

Updated galleries and an old favourite

I have just updated the photos galleries – new photos will have a red ‘new’ below them.

Inspirations, the shop in Swansea that sells my work, is continuing to do very well. Look out for more of my work appearing there soon. There is currently a slate engraved photo of my best selling Three Cliffs Bay which looks fantastic. Also check out my two 5ftx2ft panoramas in the window by the door (as is the slate ……
