Fall Bay Panorama

The weather this week has been pretty bad with rain and strong wind so when there was a chance of good weather on Thursday, I headed out to Fall Bay (just around the corner from Rhossili) for sunrise. It turned out to be the most intense sunrise I’ve seen! Click on the panorama to see it bigger.

After the sun had risen, I walked around to the other side of Fall Bay. Seeing ……

Langland Bay Panorama

With the prospect of heavy rain all week next week, I made sure I went out this morning to take advantage of sunrise. The tide was perfect for Langland Bay, so I got there at 7:25am, found my location and stood drinking coffee and watching the sea getting ever closer to cutting me off. I had to wait a little longer due to a cloud bank obscuring the rising sun which meant I had to ……

Pen y Bicws

Last week I went out to a place that overlooks Carreg Cennen Castle, but found it was really the wrong time of year for the angle. Instead, I took this photo of Pen y Bicws (also called Trichrug):

Mumbles Pier and Lighthouse

Last Tuesday morning, I set the alarm for 4am. That’s the trouble with summer – the sun rises so early! 5:09am so the BBC Weather site told me. Add in time to get dressed and have something quick to eat, then drive there, walk to the location, set up and finally be ready to take the photo. I was only standing around for about 10 minutes before the sun rose. And sometimes the sky before ……

Bracelet Bay and Mumbles Lighthouse

This morning I went out for sunrise for the first time in a while. There wasn’t a cloud in the sky, which meant the sunrise had the potential to be fairly mundane. However, I recently bought a new 10 stop ND filter which reduces the amount of light that goes into the lens by 10 stops. It means that an exposure that would normally be 1/60s becomes somewhere around 30 seconds. Here are the results ……

Langland Bay, Brandy Cove and Pwlldu Bay

I went out for sunrise this morning to Langland Bay. It was cold! My fingers were frozen even with thermal gloves liners and windproof gloves! There wasn’t enough cloud to give a decent sunrise, but I got a couple I’m happy with.

After sunrise, some coffee and a hot cross bun I walked from Caswell Bay to Pwlldu Bay in the glorious sunshine.
