A New Year Dawns

I was very good on New Years Eve and went to bed at 9pm as I wanted to go up to the Pen y Fan area for sunrise. Everything went as planned and I started walking up the Storey Arms path at 6am. With the help of crampons, I got to the ridge below Corn Du in time for sunrise. It was pretty cold though and frost formed on me as I walked. Rather surprisingly, ……

Snowy Pontardawe

The exhibition went quite well, but Sunday wasn’t great as only about 8 people came in – Friday and Saturday were fairly busy though. I’ve now sold out of the Brecon Beacons calendars! There are still a few Saltash ones and Gower ones left though.

It snowed last night so I went out at 5am to photograph the Christmas lights in the snow. I quite like driving in the snow as it requires skill that isn’t ……

Finally, Out For Sunrise!

Well, I finally managed to get out to take some new photos. I got up at 5:20am, left the house at 5:40am and took 10 mins scraping horrible ice off the car. I then walked for just over an hour to the summit of Corn Du in the Brecon Beacons. My rucksack started to get frosty! I was disappointed at the forecast the Met Office provided. They stated there would be valley mist only, but ……

Near Our House and Willow

I was doing the dishes when it went quiet and as every parent will tell you, that’s when you go and see what’s happening. Calling all readers

When I first had my blog back in 2005, I built up a fairly wide range of readers. I eventually found it cumbersome to update the blog frequently and it kind of fell by the wayside. With this new software, it’s so easy and I will be posting very regularly. I really appreciate everyone who reads this and was wondering if you could add a comment so I know you’re there :-) And do tell ……

Categories and Tags

I’ve now added categories to this blog – see the menu on the right hand side. Try it out! I’ve also added tags to each post which should help Google pick up my site and give it a good search rating.

Here’s a photo from a recent trip into the Brecon Beacons, taken after climbing the hill where I really should have had crampons (which should arrive next week!)

A Story of Working on Snowy Gower

A few weeks ago snow was forecast, so I got up at 5am, cleared 4 inches of snow from the car and left the house at 5:45am. My plan was to reach the other side of Swansea before rush hour kicked off and everyone panicked about the snow. I only slid once – down a steep hill on ice, but managed to slow to 5mph before coming out of the juction without being able to ……
