The Beast From The East

Worms Head, Rhossili Bay

Well, I guess with all the snow we had recently you are expecting lots of snowy photos of Gower… However, I think we are the only place in the country that didn’t get snow. I’ve tried to found out why and it’s apparently our location. When snow comes from the north and east, the Brecon Beacons trap the clouds and they dump all the snow before they get to us. It seems the only way ……

Drunk on Sunlight

The Most Amazing Sunset Ever at Rhossili, Gower

I hadn’t really checked the weather forecast but knew it would be cloudy around sunset so didn’t really expect to see anything when we went to Rhossili yesterday. When I got to the car park, the sun was behind the edge of a very large cloud bank. I walked as quickly as I could down to the cliffs and managed to see the rays of the sun peaking out from behind the clouds and was ……

A Quick Visit to Fan Brycheiniog

Worm’s Head and Rhossili Bay in Heather

It’s the time of year for heather to come out on Rhossili Down again, so last night I met with Emma and we walked up to the top of Rhossili Down. At our first stop, I used my tilt-shift lens to get close to the heather and emphasise it. It was pretty windy though, so the heather had some motion blur but there wasn’t much I could do about it. There was such a contrast ……

Rhossili Bay Stars at Night

Rhossili Bay, The Helvetia Wreck, The Milky Way and The Plough

Last night I headed to Rhossili Bay to photograph stars. I’ve shot star trails there before, but this time I wanted to capture the stars as pin pricks. I had checked everything but had forgotten to look at the moon forecast so was a little disappointed when I saw there was a half-moon high in the sky, but the weather has been so bad recently that I decided to go anyway. I met up with ……
