A Visit to Sgydau Sychryd

Sgydau Sychryd

It’s been quite a while since my last blog post so here is a short post to get things going again. We had a short walk today at Dinas Rock – naturally, I took my camera with me. When we arrived at Sgydau Sychryd, this view looking down onto the river, waterfall and bridge caught my eye so I spent some time composing this photo. I like the way the bridge is in the to ……

This Photo was Taken with Pain

Mewslade Bay, Gower

There are times when you have to suffer a little for your art and Sunday was one such day. We took a family trip to Mewslade Bay and I, of course, took my camera with me. When we got there it was overcast but we could see that the sun would soon be coming out. Sure enough it did and I took a few photos. However, I couldn’t quite get the angle I wanted. The ……

Drunk on Sunlight

The Most Amazing Sunset Ever at Rhossili, Gower

I hadn’t really checked the weather forecast but knew it would be cloudy around sunset so didn’t really expect to see anything when we went to Rhossili yesterday. We were lucky enough to go on a Survival Training Weekend recently with a local company who was teaching parents how to safely take their children into the hills. The basis of the weekend was around the tragedy of Little Tommy Jones who died in the ……

Astrophotography Workshop

Arthur's Stone, Gower

If you didn’t already know, I run astrophotography workshops and teach people how to take photos like the ones here with their DSLR and normal lenses. Last week I ran one such workshop on Gower with someone who had been on a daylight workshop with me. After a few goes at arranging a date, the skies were finally clear and not only that, the Milky Way was incredibly visible. The first place we stopped was ……

Four Beaches in One Day

Caswell Bay

It was without any planning or warning that we took the day off work yesterday. Well, I say day off, we took the day off from work to work. Instead of opening the shop, we drove down to Oxwich Bay – Oxwich is a difficult beach to photograph and one we get asked for all the time so we decided to see what we could do. With the sun peaking out from behind the clouds, ……
