It was without any planning or warning that we took the day off work yesterday. Well, I say day off, we took the day off from work to work. Instead of opening the shop, we drove down to Oxwich Bay – Oxwich is a difficult beach to photograph and one we get asked for all the time so we decided to see what we could do. With the sun peaking out from behind the clouds, I tried something a little different and came up with this
With Oxwich Bay ticked off, we drove to Caswell Bay. This is another beach that is popular and we’re often asked for photos of this place too. I used the foliage to border the bottom of the photo whilst keeping in the amazing clouds.
We walked along the coast path a bit until we were looking down the waves – and the waves were amazing! I thought with the scene in front of me, I would try my nighttime lens – at 14mm it’s very wide angle and can be hit or miss during the day time. It turned out to be my favourite photo of the trip and looks really good printed out too!
With that photo in the bag and time on our side, we drove to Rotherslade. The conditions were similar and I composed this photo:
We still had an hour before the school run so drove down to Mumbles, but I haven’t had time to process any photos from here yet so there aren’t any photos of our fourth beach. However, being in Mumbles we weren’t very far from Verdi’s so had to indulge ourselves….
The icecream was delicious and we headed back to normal life and the school run. It was a spontaneous and very productive day – one we’ve been wanting to do for a long time and one we will hopefully repeat again soon.
