Cornwall and Devon in the south west of England is where I grew up. Saltash in Cornwall is featured as my home town, plus the rugged beauty of Dartmoor, the Cornish coastline and the plentiful prehistoric monuments.

The Bridges

The Royal Albert Bridge (built 1859) and The Tamar Bridge (built 1961) span the river Tamar, bridging the gap between Devon and Cornwall.

Saltash (Essa in Cornish) is the gateway to Cornwall, with several notable landmarks such as the Tamar and Brunel Bridges, Trematon Castle, Mary Newman's Cottage and the Forder Tidal Mill which was mentioned in the Dooms Day Book.

Plymouth

Plymouth is a city in Devon, famous for its maritime history with Sir Francis Drake and Smeaton's Tower, the Father of all modern lighthouses.

The Cornish coast is renowned for its rugged beauty with sandy beaches, steep cliffs and beautiful scenery.

Bodmin Moor

Bodmin Moor is an area of high ground covering roughly 80 square miles in Cornwall where many of the county's river rise. Neolithic monuments are plentiful as are disused mine buildings.

Dartmoor

The Dartmoor National Park in Devon is a large area of moorland covering over 350 square miles. It is known for its tors which are batholiths (volcanic plugs) that have been exposed by the land eroding around them.
