Gower 2011 Summer Exhibition
The last 5 days have been very busy as it has been my annual Gower photo exhibition in Mumbles. I was joined by local photographer Emma Jones who also displayed some of her work. Over the 5 days I have met a lot of very nice people, chatted about a variety of topics, learnt a bit more about my star trail photos from an expert and sold a lot of photos! It has been my most successful exhibition so far and I will be booking next year’s dates later this week. In the meantime, I have my Christmas Exhibition coming up on the 10th and 11th of December (more details later) and am pleased to announce that I will be joined by Emma once again. As always, I left a comments book for people to write in if they feel inspired to – here is a small selection of the comments:
- “Some of my favourite places captured perfectly”
- “Lovely pictures egspesaly (sic) the big Three Cliffs one”
- “Very impressed. One of the best local exhibitions I have seen”
- “Breathtaking talent, Dan and Emma. Awesome exhibition”
- “Inspirational and evocative photos”
- “Excellent exhibition – well done and most enjoyable”
I included the misspelt comment because it’s interesting how many children want to write a comment – I think the girl that wrote that was about 7 years old!
Whilst at the exhibition I tried something I’ve wanted to try for a while:

Après Exhibition
I took down my photo exhibition that has been on display in Oystermouth Castle during April. As always, I left a comment book for people to write in if they felt they wanted to. Here is a selection of comments left:
- “Amazing! Loved it.”
- “The photos are so vivid, they were amazing”
- “Your photographs show Gower as its best”
- “Fantastic pics; Great artistic eye; Well presented”
- “Beautiful photography, I wish I had enough money to buy one”
It may seem a little self-congratulatory posting these comments, but it makes such a difference to get lovely positive feedback and it’s nice to share :-)

Snowy Pontardawe
The exhibition went quite well, but Sunday wasn’t great as only about 8 people came in – Friday and Saturday were fairly busy though. I’ve now sold out of the Brecon Beacons calendars! There are still a few Saltash ones and Gower ones left though.
It snowed last night so I went out at 5am to photograph the Christmas lights in the snow. I quite like driving in the snow as it requires skill that isn’t normally used. However, some drivers drive very dangerously – this morning I was driving on slush, ice and virgin snow so was trundling along at 15mph – it was uphill too and in a 30mph limit, so my speed was just about right for the conditions. A car sized van was driving so close behind that I couldn’t see his headlights! In ice and snow! It was 5:30am! People like that cause accidents and are a large part of the reason why Britain grinds to a halt when it snows. Anyway, rant over, here is a photo from this morning:

Later on, I went out for a walk with Willow in the push chair to take some more photos. I would have processed more if it wasn’t that my Work in Progress is dying and I spent ages trying to sort it out. Here’s Pontardawe from the hill towards Alltwen.
