Landscape Photography Workshops

It has been a very busy time for me over the past few weeks. I am delighted to announce that I am now running Landscape Photography Workshops on Gower and in the Brecon Beacons – see here. In addition to group outings, I am also able to provide one to one tuition where we work out an itinerary to suit you. If you want to learn how to take photos like me, then be sure to book a session!

I have just added an email subscription to the right of this blog – enter your email address to receive an update when I add a new post to this blog. This email is used for nothing else whatsoever, just new blog posts.

I have been a little slack in writing blog posts recently, but I have been busy taking new photos – here is a taster from an amazing day out with Neil Mansfield. We trekked up to Corn Du for sunrise and were presented with this lovely view:

Nadolig Llawen and a Happy New Year

This will, most probably, be my last blog post of 2011 so it’s time to wish you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! This year has been very successful for me and I’ve managed to expand my photography business despite the gloomy economic outlook, although if the news articles are anything to go by, 2012 will be even worse… I have a lot planned for 2012, filling the first three months with a lot of new photography before my craft fairs and exhibitions start again for the year. Perhaps the biggest news is that I shall be starting photography tutoring, starting off with small groups and one-to-ones – this is something I’ve been asked about several times which has caused me to think seriously about it. To start with I shall be running a trial or two and see how I go from there, so look out for an announcement in the first couple of months next year – the first one or two will be run free to help me get a feel for it and also to get valuable feedback before deciding to proceed with it.

Here is a photo I took a long time ago in the Brecons – I parked at Blaen-y-glyn and whilst putting my boots on, this robin came to say hello. I had real trouble trying to photograph it as it kept coming too close, even flying in and out of the car! It is my most seasonal photo to date!

A Photographic Journey Around … Gower

A few years ago, I self-published a book entitled ‘A Photographic Journey Around … Gower’. Early this year, I started work on the second edition. It is vastly different to the first edition. It now had twice as many pages and is hardback. Most of the photos are new since the first edition and the style of the book had been radically changed too. It is still full of fascinating historical, geological and geographical information and many new places have been added. Click here for more information and to pre-order the book. Happy New Year and No VAT

Happy New Year to everyone! Hope you all had a good Christmas break. Everyone in the UK will be aware that the VAT rate went up today. You’ll be pleased to know that as I’m not VAT registered, I don’t charge VAT so my prices won’t be going up :-) I will pay more to various suppliers but I shall absorb those costs myself as they’re pretty minimal. My new 100x40cm panorama framed photos I trialled at my December exhibition were very successful and I shall be doing more – the only one left from the exhibition will be going on sale in Inspirations in Swansea later this week. Meanwhile, here is a photo from last month

Brecon Craft Fair

Tomorrow’s Brecon Craft Fair (18th December 2010) has been cancelled so unfortunately I shan’t be there with my stall – the A470 between Merthyr and Brecon is closed so I couldn’t have got there anyway. If anyone’s desperate for any last minute gifts, please let me know and we can see what we can do – if you can get to Swansea then there shouldn’t be a problem. Meanwhile, here’s a photo of Pontardawe from today after 7 inches (18cm of snow)
