New Gower Mono Collection

I’ve been meaning to do this for a while and when Willow was sick last week I couldn’t go out so had time to make a small collection of black and white photos of Gower. I’m taking them to Inspirations in Swansea today where they will be on sale. The photo below doesn’t really do them justice – they look stunning, even though I say so myself.

The photos are of Arthur’s Stone, Whiteford Lighthouse, Worms Head, Mumbles Lighthouse and Three Cliffs Bay (Left to right; top to bottom). They measure 10×10 inches and cost £20 each.

Fforest Fawr Sunset

I went out to Twyn y Gaer near Mynydd Illtud with the hope I could photograph Pen y Fan at sunset, but unfortunately the cloud was too thick. the view the other way was rather nice though.

The Black Mountains

The Black Mountains are the furthest of the Brecon Beacons ranges from me so I rarely go there. I didn’t go there this time either, but I used my long lens to capture Sugar Loaf at sunset. I had gone to photograph Pen y Fan and Corn Du, but it was shrouded in persistent cloud.

Langland Bay, Brandy Cove and Pwlldu Bay

I went out for sunrise this morning to Langland Bay. It was cold! My fingers were frozen even with thermal gloves liners and windproof gloves! There wasn’t enough cloud to give a decent sunrise, but I got a couple I’m happy with.

After sunrise, some coffee and a hot cross bun I walked from Caswell Bay to Pwlldu Bay in the glorious sunshine.

Pobbles Beach and Around

Yesterday afternoon, I drove to Southgate to walk to Pobbles Beach for sunset. The BBC cloud cover forecast said there would be no cloud at all, so it was no surprise that there was a little too much cloud for a decent sunset. I did take a few photos though.

Three Cliffs Bay

On Saturday Paula, Willow and I walked to Three Cliffs Bay from Parkmill; the first time we’ve done that walk! The weather was warm and sunny, pretty good for this time of year. I managed to take a few photos between drawing in the sand with Willow and throwing stones in the water.

Sunrise at Llyn y Fan Fawr

On Saturday morning, I ventured out in the snow at 6am and drove into the Brecon Beacons. There was snow on the road, but not enough to cause a problem. The conditions were difficult underfoot as it was icy and dark. Sunrise itself wasn’t that spectacular as there were no clouds in the sky, but afterwards I spent a while photographing the ice on the lake. The wind was bitterly cold and I started to feel cold even though I was wearing my Helly Hansen thermals that are rated down to -30, two micro fleeces, a fleece coat and a waterproof coat – that’s the trouble with standing still and waiting for the sun to appear…
